Bowen Technique is a gentle form of natural healing. Bowen treatment involves only light moves, applied to very specific points on the body, with significant pauses or rests between each series of moves. Bowen therapy is relaxing and has a dramatic effect on the whole body.
After their first experience of treatment, people often wonder how gentle moves can have such a powerful effect not only on their structural problems ( ie bad back, frozen shoulder) but on their general well-being. I use my fingers and thumbs to move over muscles, tendons, fascia and joints and occasionally directly over nerves themselves, in order to cause a healing response in the body. The sole intention of the work is to encourage the body to respond by carefully stimulating its own innate ability to heal.
Bowen therapy gets amazing results. Lots of people get significant improvements only after a few treatments, even those with quite long- term problems.
Bowen is different to other modalities it addresses the muscle and fascial relationships that are holding the spine in that particular position. By changing the way in which muscles and fascia relate to each other, a change in structure becomes inevitable, forcing the spine to adopt a better position. This approach usually has a longer lasting effect.
Best results are generally seen if the client has three Bowen treatments over a period of three weeks. This will resolve most people’s pain and discomfort. This is followed by further treatments over a 4 to 8 week period. Some people like to come in for relaxation and stress release. It improves sleep quality and I find its very beneficial with your immune system.
