A Passion for Herbs

E-mail Print PDF
In 1986 Erin Collins and Michael Thomsen graduated in Sydney from as Medical Herbalists and Naturopaths.

Since that time their combined enthusiasm for herbal medicine has kept them extraordinarily busy in their field.

In addition to private practice, both Erin and Michael have published books and articles on herbal therapeutics, lectured and tutored students and the public and Michael has also worked in the industry developing herbal formulations.

Michael has also travelled to developing countries, most recently for the United Nations in Bangladesh to encourage local communities to re-establish herb growing for local use and ultimately, for export.

Since achieving his masters degree in clinical herbal medicine trials, Michael has focussed his clinical work on to cancer support, while Erin continues to work with “whoever walks in the door”

Last year, Erin established ecoHaven, a small shop working with fair-trade and environmentally friendly produce.

In April this year, ecoHaven moved into much larger premise in Murray St where this dynamic couple have also set up a practice with eight other complementary health practitioners and a café.

The centre is unique to Hobart, offering clinical excellence alongside good environmental choices and information and great food and drink!

All this from a passion for those plants which some of our clever forebears recognised for their benefit to human health….herbs
